Ethics & Moral Formation
Together becoming the kind of people who live faithfully to the way of Jesus
and the truth of Jesus in faith and practice.
A Framework for Pursuing Wisdom as our Ethical and Moral Goal
-
Ethics
In a complex world, we need a way of living faithfully to the way and the truth of Jesus. By considering how we process our ethical values we can discover a path towards the wisest ways of being and doing.
-
Empathy
Beyond just thinking about the way and truth of Jesus, we need ways of relating to others in the same manner as him. This involves growing in our ability to understand and share the feelings of others. To grow in moral formation, we need also to grow in empathy.
-
Action
Let on their own, moral reasoning and empathy are not enough to see the way and truth of Jesus lived out in our world. Sometimes we simply need to get involved. In other words, we also need to act wisely and ethically.
Why ethics and moral formation?
Because our world is complex and we need a better way to understand it, a better way to navigate it, and a better way to transform it.
In addition to our own spiritual growth and maturity, we also believe that we need growth and maturity in our ethics as followers of Christ. We need to slow down and ask the question, What does it look like to live faithfully to the way and truth of Jesus in our world today? We must consider not simply how we to make right choices, rather we want to learn how to better make wise decisions. We’re not seeking formula for ethical living; we’re pursuing godly wisdom for ethical transformation. We’re looking beyond the idea of simply remaining moral in a corrupt world. Instead, we’re looking at how we might make a corrupt society more just.
Our hope is to journey together in ways that help us grow in our Christ likeness as we steep our minds, hearts, and our actions in the wisdom of God for ethical and moral formation. If this interests you, we’d love to travel this road with you on our way to live faithfully to both the truth and the way of Jesus in our own lives, workplaces, neighborhoods, churches, and public practices.
